Have you stayed in a Florida hotel and surprised by your bill with extra fees? It has become common that hotels in Florida will hide fees in small print on their menus, or add a mandatory gratuity fee at the end of meals without notice. This is deceitful to the consumer when, unaware of the already established fee, they add more to the tip and pay more than they intended.
Florida law states that businesses “shall provide notice of (A) whether the business includes an automatic tip in its bill,” and that “this notice shall be posted conspicuously, either on a sign or in a statement on the business’s menu.” Consumers should be protected and aware when a mandatory fee is set. That way, they are not scammed out of their money. If you stayed at a Florida hotel and were surprised by a mandatory fee, please contact us! |
